Home Energy Rating.

We offer Florida Home Energy Rating services as well as great opportunities to conserve and save.

A Home Energy Rating (HERS) provides a standardized evaluation of a home’s energy efficiency and expected energy costs. A HERS Rating provides a relative energy use index called the HERS Index. On this index a score of 100 represents the energy use of a standard home and a score of 0 (zero) indicates a Zero Energy home.

Home Energy Rating Scale

  • Would you like to qualify for a more favorable home mortgage, or buy more home for less money?
  • Would you like to own a better quality, and more comfortable home that uses less energy?
  • Would you like your home to have less impact on the environment and surrounding neighborhood?
  • Would you like to see a 3rd party certified, before-and-after installation analysis of Green Home improvements for your home?

A Home Energy Rating, which satisfies these wants, is conducted in accordance with uniform standards and includes a detailed home energy use assessment, conducted by a State-Certified Energy Rater, using an advanced set of accredited energy and economic analysis procedures and a certified software tool called Energy Gauge.

Only Florida State Certified Energy Raters are allowed to perform ratings in Florida. These raters have undergone rigorous training programs and have passed the required challenge exams. They are also required to undergo continuing education classes and additional exams to keep their certifications current. An on-going quality control program also watches over their ratings and their work. All their ratings are submitted to a central registry that checks them for accuracy and provides the 3rd party certification.

Will these Green Home Improvements help you to achieve your energy efficiency goals?

Whether they will or not depends on the number of occupants in your home and their habits, the type, capacity, age, and how you manage your cooling, heating and hot water systems, the amount of insulation and air leakage there is in your home’s envelope, as well as the number and size of windows, and many other factors.

This is where we can help. In conjunction with the guidelines of the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), we follow the LEED for HOMES Whole House Approach, which not only considers one stand-alone Green Energy Efficient Home Improvement, but also its relationship to all the other elements that impact the energy efficiency of the home.

As State Certified Energy Raters, we a use Energy Gauge software tools that provide a detailed performance-based analysis of a home’s energy, as well as performing an economic analysis of proposed energy improvements, and our results are 3rd party audited and certified.
